Byzantine Electroformed Ring

Byzantine Electroformed Ring

£60.00Price

A really striking ring - created with a base of flattened copper wire, worked into an urn shape ring shank that holds a glittering titanium coated blue druzy stone.  Druzy stones have a fine layer of tiny crystals across the surface and the titanium coating adds shades of gold in amongst the teal crystals. The ring was then electroformed - an almost magical process where copper is transferred from a piece of copper to the ring via a combination of chemical solution and electrical current - over a 24 hour period.

Around the bezel of the stone are some little faceted accents and the copper surface of this electroformed ring has been lightly coated with a layer of silver patina.

The slightly oval shape of this ring measures at a UK size Q.  Please check your ring size before ordering - you can either purchase a small ring sizer from a well known auction site for around £1 or I can supply you with one for £2.50.

If you use Facebook you can look at a post I created about a simple way to provide me with a ring size if you don't want to buy a ring sizer.

  • Care Instructions

Unlike my sterling silver rings this piece should be handled more carefully in terms of cleaning.  Copper will always oxidise more quickly and to a darker shade than silver and I created this ring in a style that I felt would complement its natural tendency to oxidise.

You may also find that the copper leaves a mark on your finger when you wear this ring - that's completely natural and cannot be stopped from happening unless a barrier is applied - this can be achieved by painting a coat of clear nail varnish on the inside of the ring.  This will eventually wear off and so you should apply more clear nail varnish as required.

  • Packaging

All of my packaging is created from recycled and recyclable card, including the care card.  Items are wrapped in acid free tissue paper and secured with washi tape.  Once the washi tape has been removed from your items and the stamp removed from your outer packaging the boxes can be reused, composted or placed in your recycling bin.
